Xiamen has pushed forward the reconstruction and expansion of the Xiamen Railway Station to better cope with the surging passenger flow. The renovation project of the Xiamen Railway Station is now in full swing, according to reports.

The new Xiamen Railway Station has been designed to be shaped like a flying egret. Based on the design plan, there will be 2 floors in the new station building and the second floor will function as the departure floor. Passengers should go up to the second floor to take trains and those who arrive at Xiamen will be able to walk out of the station through channels on the first floor.

Meanwhile, the further municipal auxiliary projects are comprised of the construction of a southern square, a northern square and municipal road project. The south square will cover an area of 32,000 square meters with a 15,000-square-meter basement.

At the same time, the transformation project of transportation in the surrounding area is now also underway. Apart from the reconstruction and expansion of Jinbang Road, a 700-meter-long passageway is expected to be built under the road. In addition, 4 road tunnels connecting the north and south station buildings are also on the agenda.
