Abstract: According to the 2015 household survey findings made by DRC research group on the livelihood of Chinese people, the top social and environmental factors that respondents are most dissatisfied with are environmental pollution and ecological destruction. Respondents’ demands on ecological environment quality are quite different. Most older respondents believe that the quality of the ecological environment has improved to some extent; the number of male respondents who maintain that the quality of the ecological environment has improved is higher than females; the percentage of respondents with higher income and better educational background who hold that the quality of the ecological environment has improved presents an inverted U curve, yet the percentage of respondents who consider that the quality of the ecological environment has deteriorated tends to rise. Compared with those by other occupations, the percentage of respondents from social organizations and government bodies who think that the quality of the ecological environment has improved is higher; compared to rural respondents, the percentage of urban dwellers who find that the quality of the ecological environment has improved is higher. These findings have provided valuable reference for enhancing the public’s perception of ecological environment quality, and establishing a subjective evaluation system of public ecological environment compatible with the requirements of the ecological civilization construction.
