With the support and coordination from DRC’s International Cooperation Department, the Workshop of "Mobile Broad Band Development and its Impact on Chinese Economy and Society", sponsored by Institute of Enterprises of DRC and Global System for Mobile Communications(GSMA), was held in Beijing on September 29. DRC Vice President Hou Yunchun addressed the opening ceremony. The workshop sessions were chaired by Mme. Sun Lanlan,Director General of DRC International Cooperation Department, Dr. Zhao Changwen, Director General of DRC’s Institute of Enterprise, and Dr. Gao Shiji, Deputy Director General of Research Department of Development Strategy and Regional Economy. Around 70 delegates participated in the workshop, including Mr. Wu Jichuan, former Minister of Industry and Information Technology and Chairman of the Chinese Institute of Electronics and representatives from China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, 3 major operators of telecommunications in China i.e. China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, 3 equipment manufacturers i.e. Huawei, ZTE and Datang, as well as ITU, GSMA, AT&T, CSL, Qualcomm, Nokia, Siemens.
