The preliminary meeting of the Zhongguancun Innovation Alliance on Photoelectric Display Industry was held on July 16 in Beijing.
Government authorities, industry experts, and enterprise leaders shared their expectations for the development of the photoelectric sector.
The alliance was established in response to government encouragement, and is made up of more than 30 enterprises, universities, and scientific research institutions.
Many experts suggest that the photoelectric industry has great potential in the 21st century, as more and more devices rely on light-sensitive technology. The development of photoelectric technologies also reflects a country's scientific and technological strength, and could be a huge boost to the economy.
However, China’s innovations in the photoelectric industry lag behind global competitors, and there is a lack of domestic investment and financing in this field.
Founding the alliance is one way to boost the Chinese photoelectric industry.
The alliance will work on the establishment of industry standards, provide talent training, serve as a think tank, and provide a public platform to boost the photoelectric industry in China, said Chang Yi, vice chairman and secretary-general of the Zhongguancun Innovation Alliance on Photoelectric Display Industry.
