Zhang Gaoli, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and vice-premier of the State Council, visited Zhongguancun Science Park recently and met with dozens of entrepreneurs at a discussion conference, Xinhua News Agency reported.

At the meeting, Zhang analyzed the nation's economic trends and discussed economic development strategies with participants. He also talked about Zhongguancun's important role and its demonstration effect in developing the nation's economy and technology.

According to Zhang, though the world economy has improved, domestic development still faces some difficulties as the national economic crisis continues to have an impact.

Zhang said that to further develop the economy, governments and relative departments should transfer their functions to help enterprises cope with challenges. At the same time, enterprises should play a leading role in science and technology innovation, structural adjustment and environment protection.

Guo Jinlong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, accompanied Zhang in his visit.
