Xu Shuguang graduated in 1990 from the University of Southern California in the U.S. with a master's degree in applied mathematics, information engineering, and a doctorate in operation management and financial analysis.
Xu served as financial manager and information manager of the Broadway Holding Company in 1990. In 1994, he was the financial director of SantaAnita—the biggest entertainment and real estate investment company in the U.S.
In 1995, Xu joined the Taiwan President Group United States investment company as chief operating officer (COO). He served as board chairman of American Pacific Homes, Inc (APH) in 1997.
In 2004, Xu established the Green Tree Inn - a high-quality and cost-effective business hotel chain, and served as CEO.
Xu was awarded the Leading Figure of China's Hotel Industry and the 2007-2008 Top Ten Excellent Managers of China's Franchising Enterprises.
