Recently, five villages in the city of Huangshan, Anhui province gained the title of‘Historical and Cultural Town in China’. Their nameswere published in the 6th batch of Chinese historical and cultural towns (villages) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.
The list of winners includes the South of Xixi town and Lingshan village in Huizhou district, Xiangxiong village in Shexian county, Kengkou village in Qimen county and Lucun village in Yixian village.
It is reported that the selection is based on the "Historical and cultural towns (villages) in China selection plan" and has gone through a number of nominations and expert reviews.
