Hefei Botanic Garden has promised to hold flower shows every month in 2013 in a yearly arrangement revealed on March 10.
According to Zhou Yunfeng, director of Hefei Botanic Garden, visitors can admire different seasonal flowers from January to December. March is the perfect time to admire blossoming orchids. Over 1,000 orchids will blossom in mid-to-late March.
Every month will promote one main flower: tulips for April, China roses for May, water lilies for June, lotuses for July, Lycoris radiatas for August, sweet osmanthus’ for September, sunflowers for October, chrysanthemums for November, and wintersweets for December.
After the successful cultivation of sunflowers in the garden, the planting area of sunflowers has been doubled this year and more species have been introduced to entertain visitors.
Apart from the spring flower show, a summer flower show, autumn flower show and winter flower show are also on the schedule. During these shows, various communication activities will be held for visitors.
For example, a summer camp for plant knowledge held during the summer flower show will satisfy the needs of enthusiastic participants. In addition, a specimen exhibition and a training activity featuring expert instructors will take place in the autumn and winter shows, respectively.
