The 16th Forum on Development of China's STM Journals convened in Changchun -- capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province -- on Sept 24, according to local media reports.

The three-day forum has attracted the participation of nearly 300 people from 258 journals, magazines, publishing houses, relevant academic research institutions and enterprises.

With the goal of promoting building world-class scientific journals, the event is being attended by representatives of academic circles and journals, as well as journal managers and business representatives.

They have been talking together, using a combination of online and offline discussion.

These are covering, among others, such subjects as paths to innovation and cooperation by scientific journals, and the establishment of a good environment for their coordinated and integrated development.

The discussions are helping to guide Chinese scientific journals to integrate into the wider network of scientific and technological innovation and actively participate in the construction of an innovation-oriented country.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, the Blue Book on China's Scientific Journal Development (2020) and planned selected papers for the 5th excellent scientific paper selection program of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) were released.

In the keynote report section of the forum, experts delivered speeches on such topics as "promoting the spirit of anti-epidemic and exerting scientific and technological strength" and "the international development of Chinese scientific journals".

Other speeches include: "thinking on the development of scientific journals" and "promoting top journals with excellent scientific achievements - understanding and thinking on further improving the level of China's scientific journals".

These speeches were a good response to the topic of developing first-class journals to help the construction of first-class universities and first-class disciplines in China.

In the dialogue section for university and college presidents, many guests discussed aspects of policy formulation, social responsibility,academic evaluation system and road to the internationalization of world-class scientific journals to be taken by universities.

Elsewhere, two summits will discuss the construction of the academic evaluation system of scientific journals and methods for comprehensive evaluation indicators.

They will also discuss the transformation and upgrading of the publication of scientific and technological journals.

A cloud exhibition is being held during the forum to showcase the development of China's scientific journals.

During the forum, many signing activities will take place.

In addition, the finals of the 4th competition for Chinese scientific journal youth editors will be held during this forum.
