for a long, lean Forties-style gown in cream
Lady Helen Taylor opted for a demure, off the shoulder evening dress in midnight blue.
Other celebrity guests included Sophie Dahl, Twiggy, Liz Hurley, Thandi Newton, Quentin Tarantino, Mario Testino and Alex Curran.
The exhibition at the museum in South Kensington opens on Saturday.
It celebrates Dior's launch of the "New Look" for his first collection in 1947, which delighted the fashion world with its full skirts and hour-glass silhouettes.
Dior's stunning gowns are on display alongside those of Balenciaga, Norman Hartnell, Balmain and Givenchy.
