Man fakes kidnapping to splurge on younger lover

A 60-year-old man didn't want his romance with a 30-year-old woman to fade away over money so he faked his own kidnapping.

The man, from Hui'an, Fujian province, told his brother-in-law he was kidnapped and the abductors wanted 30,000 yuan to spare his life. But he really wanted the money to buy gifts for the woman.

Xu fell in love with the woman, Li, six months ago and use his 1,000 yuan monthly wages on her. Li began to lose interest in him when he ran short of cash.

He tried the scheme in order to win her back. But police tracked his cell phone to a hotel room where he and Li were staying.
