Sir Alex Ferguson described Manchester United's 6-1 thrashing 痛擊 by rivals Manchester City as his "worst ever day" at the club and vowed 發(fā)誓: "There will be a response."

The United boss said the way his team played was suicidal 自殺性的。

"Jonny Evans's sending off was a killer for us. With 10 men we kept attacking - it was crazy football and ended up being an embarrassment. We should have just said: 'We've had our day'."

He means that his team shouldn't have continued to attack in the hope of victory, but played in a more defensive way to limit the size of the loss.

Despite the manner of the defeat, Ferguson insisted that United will recover and close the five-point gap 彌補(bǔ)五分的差距 that now separates them and City.
