Drug body to ease pain for foreign pharmaceutical firms
食藥監(jiān)局為國外醫(yī)藥企業(yè)開綠燈

There is a huge market potential for drugs and more foreign pharmaceutical companies should tap the sector, Bi Jingquan, chief of China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), said on Sunday.
國家食品藥品監(jiān)督管理局局長畢井泉5日表示，醫(yī)藥行業(yè)的市場潛力巨大，應(yīng)當(dāng)對(duì)更多國外制藥公司開放。

Bi said there are several reasons behind the shortage of new drugs in China, some of the causes are: Strict drug inspection and approval policies, shortage in drug inspection and approval personnel at the CFDA, and concerns from some foreign pharmaceutical companies over intellectual property protection in China, which make them reluctant to sell new drugs in the country.
畢井泉稱，導(dǎo)致我國新藥缺乏的原因有很多，其中一些因素包括：嚴(yán)格的藥品審批政策、食藥監(jiān)局藥品審批人員力量缺乏，還有一些國外制藥公司因?qū)ξ覈R(shí)產(chǎn)權(quán)保護(hù)有所擔(dān)憂而不愿向我國出售新藥。

The authorities will take measures such as streamlining approval procedures for drugs, intensify protection of intellectual property rights, and increase the staff for drug approval so that more new medicines are available in the market, he added.
畢井泉表示，政府將采取簡化藥物批準(zhǔn)程序、加強(qiáng)知識(shí)產(chǎn)權(quán)保護(hù)以及增加審批人員力量等措施，以便于更多新藥在國內(nèi)上市。
