Chinese Wisdom has been increasingly appreciated in the past few decades. Around the world, many people are amazed by its intelligent tactics and harmony-oriented ideas that were formulated thousands years ago and often embodied in China's great treasure-trove of literature. Within this rich corpus of Chinese literature, Gui Gu Zi (鬼谷子) is a standout.
Gui Gu Zi is a Chinese masterpiece that has collected wisdom from the greatest Chinese scholars, bearing the name of one of their number. The wisdom in Gui Gu Zi can be applied to marketing strategies and business negotiation. The advantage of Gui Gu Zi is its insights about dealing with enemies without advance warning. It is especially good for an underdog trying to subtly reverse a business situation. Compared with Western culture, which is more explicit and direct, Gui Gu Zi suggests winning strategies that do not consume much energy or resources.
With the help of the renowned scholar, Mr Shum Yat Fei, HKIM will organize a workshop, called "Gui Gu Zi Marketing Wisdom and Negotiation Skills Workshop", which will teach participants to utilize the wisdom of Gui Gu Zi's "art of war" in this ever-changing modern business world.
The workshop speaker, Mr Shum Yat Fei, will delve into the theory, principles and concepts expressed in Gui Gu Zi, while exploring it from both intellectual and practical standpoints. In addition to the interpretations with historical background, Mr Shum will sort out the most important principles and apply them to the modern business world. Through the examination and sharing of real business case studies, participants' emotional management, interpersonal skills and leadership abilities will be challenged and enhanced. At the executive decision-making level, the workshop will focus on crisis management, manpower allocation and resource distribution skills and understanding.
Mr Shum Yat Fei is one of the most renowned business management experts in Hong Kong and mainland China. He has been an editor, translator and host of TV and radio programs. One of his signal achievements has been his role as a professional consultant and lecturer in his "Business Management by Chinese Wisdom" courses at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Within his decades of teaching experience, Mr Shum has set up and taught more than 20 Chinese Wisdom modules, incorporating his most familiar expertise, the wisdom of Gui Gu Zi.
