Shui On Land Ltd.
Mr. Vincent Lo Hong-sui is the Shui On Group's founding Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shui On Land Limited.
He founded the group in 1971, after working in his father's business on his return to Hong Kong from Australia in 1969. He has built Shui On from a small construction company into a diversified group engaged in property development and investment, contracting and construction as well as construction materials, with business interests in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and North America.
Mr. Lo's business philosophy is illustrated by his choice of corporate logo for the Shui On Group, a rendition of the inspirational Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which is meant to symbolize his own and his company's quest for perfection. "At Shui On, we have chosen Jonathan Livingston Seagull to symbolize our values and aspirations because we, too, believe that perfection is the goal for our every effort, and that the determination to improve and innovate is a constant stimulus and challenge," commented Mr. Lo.
In 2001, Mr. Lo was named Businessman of the Year by the Hong Kong Business Awards, sponsored by DHL and the South China Morning Post, and won the Director of the Year Award in the category of Listed Company Executive Directors from The Hong Kong Institute of Directors in 2002. Mr. Lo was awarded Hong Kong’s Gold Bauhinia Star in 1998 and he was made an Honorary Citizen of Shanghai in 1999.
In addition to his business, Mr. Lo is actively involved in community services. He is currently a member of the Tenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a Justice of the Peace (Hong Kong), President of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Council for the Promotion and Development of Yangtze and the Business and Professionals Federation of Hong Kong, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce and the Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai, Economic Adviser to the Chongqing Municipal Government, Member of Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council, and an Advisor to Peking University's China Centre for Economic Research and the Chinese Society of Macroeconomics.
Mr. Lo holds a number of executive and non-executive directorships of leading Hong Kong corporations and he is an Advisory Professor at both Shanghai Tongji University and Shanghai University. He also holds a Doctor of Business Administration (honoris causa) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Born in 1948, Mr. Lo attended St. Joseph's College in Hong Kong and the University of New South Wales, Australia.
