Gisele Bundchen is passionate about breastfeeding.

The 30-year-old supermodel - who has an eight-month-old son Benjamin with her NFL player husband Tom Brady - thinks it is important for new mothers to feed their babies naturally but she doesn't think it should be compulsory

Writing in response to comments she made stating "I think there should be a worldwide law that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months", Gisele said on her blog: "My intention in making a comment about the importance of breastfeeding has nothing to do with the law.

"It comes from my passion and beliefs about children. Becoming a new mom has brought a lot of questions, I feel like I am in a constant search for answers on what might be the best for my child."

The Brazilian beauty - who had a homebirth when she delivered Benjamin in December 2009 - made her original comments to Britain's Harper's Bazaar magazine while discussing the importance of breastfeeding.

She also said: "Some people think they don't have to breastfeed and I think, 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?' "
