Expo promotes technology imports and Exports

Since the high-tech Expo serves as an influential platform for exchanges between high technology and products on an international level, the Ministry of Commerce fully supports it, said Wei Jianguo, vice-minister of commerce and vice-chairman of organizing committee of the high-tech Expo.
 Wei said the Ministry of Commerce hopes to double the overall international trade volume and triple high-tech product Exports in the first two decades of the 21st century.
He also hopes the high-tech Expo will play an important role in trade promotion.
Wei proposed the following for the 7th Expo: The Expo organizer should provide excellent exhibition services; the Expo should differentiate itself from other Expos; it should exert its influence beyond China and shape its international reputation; it should be more attractive to giant enterprises both home and abroad; and it should not only possess a commercial effect, but also exert social and political effect.
In addition, Wei said the Expo could cooperate closely with countries planning to transfer their high-tech industries to China, like the Association of South East Asia (ASEAN), Japan and South Korea, which makes this a great opportunity for the Expo's expansion.
