Russian chief negotiator back to Beijing for nuclear talks
Russian chief negotiator Alexander Alexeyev returned to Beijing on Thursday to participate in the longest-ever six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue. At Beijing's international airport, Alexeyev denied any "crisis" in the ongoing six-party talks and said "We will try our best to make the talks successful." The six-nation negotiation might still last "one or two days," said the Russian deputy foreign minister. The fourth round of the six-party talks, involving China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korean, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Russia and Japan, inched into the tenth day Thursday. All sides are striving to forge a common document at the longest-ever six-party talks, which will set basic principles for resolving the nuclear issue. Alexeyev arrived in Beijing on July 25 to attend the six-party talks and left for Moscow on July 30 to deal with certain "domestic issues". |
