GlobalTRONICS 2004 to kick off in Singapore
GlobalTRONICS, Asia's longest established electronics manufacturing exhibition and conference, will be held again in Singapore from 7 to 10 September 2004, following a resounding vote of confidence from the global electronics manufacturing community.
"GlobalTRONICS 2004, to be held at Suntec City Convention Centre, has expanded in scope to reflect industry demand for previews of new technologies and trends", said organizer Ng Chuan Yong, vice president of Reed Exhibitions Pte Ltd and a world leading trade and consumer events organizer.
Singapore currently manufactures 50 per cent of the world's hard disk drives and has more than 15 established wafer fabrication plants and 30 integrated circuit design houses.
"Singapore continues to be an industry hub, known for its high-end manufacturing capabilities and commitment to quality. In addition, countries in South East Asia are known for being technology savvy and many electronics players leverage the presence of early technology adopters within these markets to test products before global rollout. Singapore is well connected to the whole region to take advantage of this," said Ng.
"Apart from manufacturing, visitors can expect GlobalTRONICS 2004 to cover the four key trends and drivers for the electronics manufacturing industry - wireless, displays, miniaturisation and semiconductor," the vice president said, adding that GlobalTRONICS 2004 is expected to attract some 12,000 visitors.
New to GlobalTRONICS 2004 is DESIGNtech Asia, a platform featuring electronic design automation tools and methodologies, and design software. It was created to cater for the growing Asia-Pacific electronic design automation market (EDM), which is worth US$363 million and has grown 23 percent and 10 percent in 2002 and 2003.
Other additions to the exhibition, which will occupy 12,000 square meters of space, include OPTOelectronics Asia, a showcase of photonics related to the electronics industry; an innovation gallery featuring nano technology and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS); and a Contract Manufacturers Hall of Fame and a display of Asia contract manufacturers' capabilities.
Activities such as a technology conference, senior executives summit and e-supply chain conference were extremely popular during the last show and will continue to be features of this year's GlobalTRONICS.
Every year Reed Exhibitions events bring together some 156,000 suppliers and over nine million buyers from around the world. Today, Reed events are held in 32 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, and organised by 26 fully staffed offices. Its portfolio of over 450 events serves 49 industries in 12 key sectors. |
