Consumer sues over furniture 'poison'

A consumer who claimed that his recently purchased furniture contained
formaldehyde that exceeded the standard and had poisoned his family members,
filed a legal action against the producer, reports Beijing Star Daily.
Wang Dongxu's family felt dizzy, with tight chests and aches in the throat,
since the arrival of four items of furniture bought from Xianghe Furniture Town
in Beijing's Tongzhou District in April, held that the producer should be held
responsible.
Meanwhile, Wang asked for the return of all his expenditure, amounting to
4,200 yuan (US$510) and another 4,900 yuan (US$595) in compensation.
According to the examination conducted by the Chinese Air Quality Monitoring
Centre, the content of the chemicals in Wang's bedroom was 6.7 times more than
the country's standard.
Now the case is still under further investigation.
