Heavy industry dominates Shandong's industrial output

Latest statistics show that heavy industry still dominates the industrial
output in east China's Shandong province, one of the country's economic
powerhouses, in the first eight months of this year.
Large industrial enterprises reported a total industrial added value of 293.3
billion yuan (35.34 billion US dollars) from January to August, an increase of
21.9 percent year on year.
A year-on-year increase of 24 percent in heavy industry has contributed to
63.5 percent of the province's industrial output.
Of the province's total industrial output during Jan.-Aug., 186. 31 billion
yuan (22.45 billion US dollars) was earned from heavy industry, according to the
latest statistics of the province's bureau of statistics.
