Touted anti-theft device falls flat

A car owner is suing a goods dealer for selling him an anti-theft steering
wheel lock that didn't work, reports Beijing Morning Post.
When Xu bought the device last February, the salesman gave him a pamphlet
that claimed the lock could not be damaged by electric saws or drills or opened
with master keys.
"The lock is internationally acclaimed as the best anti-theft device in the
world," the pamphlet boasted.
But two months later, Xu's car disappeared from the streets of Beijing. The
car was eventually found by police in Shandong, who said the thieves had simply
used a handsaw to cut the lock apart.
Xu accused the dealer of exaggerating the product's effectiveness. He is
demanding 40,000 yuan (US$4,800) in compensation.
