A drunken deaf woman fought off attempts to save her after she jumped off a bridge in Shenyang on Monday, reports Shenyang Today.

A man surnamed Huang spotted the woman struggling in the river under a bridge, so he ran to the water and tried to rescue her.

But rather than co-operate, the woman resisted him with kicks and punches.

When the woman was finally dragged to the bank, she ran onto the bridge and jumped again. And again Huang attempted to retrieve her.

By the time the woman was about to jump a third time, police were on the scene to stop her.

Witnesses said the woman often got drunk and wandered about the area and had jumped into the water before.

They thought that this time she might have jumped following a quarrel with a cyclist who accidentally ran into her on the road.
