Police cut red-tape to help public

Shenzhen police announced 19 policies to make several application procedures
more "convenient for the public" at the same time that a departmental
spokesperson was introduced on Thursday, reports Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.
The 19 policies simplify residency registration, passport application, motor
vehicle licence review and fire-control management, among others.
Yu Xinguo, a deputy director with the Municipal Public Security Bureau, was
made the department's first spokesperson.
The police plan to hold press conferences once a month, addressing social
security issues concerning the public and releasing information on "serious"
criminal cases, Yu said.
