What impressed Liu even more was the fair and respectful treatment that people with disabilities receive in many countries. "In Portugal, we saw all the cars stopping to wait for a blind woman crossing the street. At the same time, a young man was walking beside her to keep her safe, but he chose to not let her know. When he was helping the woman, he was giving her the dignity of equality," said Liu.

Upon their return, Liu started to work on her travelogue, a book entitled: "Not Too Bad," since Liu wanted her book to inspire people like her.

"Many people have disabilities, just like me. But maybe out of low self-esteem, they don't want to go out to see the world. However, in writing this book, I intend not to say that they have to go as far as I did, but to tell them that we have to take a good look at the world, including going to the supermarket or going to see a film," said Liu, concluding that a new life is only possible if you walk away from the shadow in your heart.

Liu admitted that she declined to recall the darkest days of her recovery, but said that "a change in direction does not mean that there's no road ahead. When changes come, we should face them with a smile, because it really won't be too bad."
