Artifacts on display

Guangdong Museum has launched a major exhibition of important archaeological finds from Guangdong province and neighboring Hong Kong and Macao. Experts from the two special administrative regions have been invited to give public lectures this weekend on the history, culture and archeological development of the two regions. Displaying collections from more than 30 museums in the three areas, the exhibition chronicles the history of Lingnan culture since the Paleolithic age. Visitors are exposed to how ancient residents in the Lingnan area lived, through delicate pottery, bronze ware and china. The curator will guide visitors through the exhibition on Jan 18.

Singer is amazing

Chinese soul and jazz singer Yuan Yawei will perform a concert headlined This is Amazing in Beijing with her band, Tha Knutz. Founded in late 2009, the band features musicians from China, the United States, and the Commonwealth of Dominica. Their music is a mix of R&B, soul, hip-hop and jazz. The 29-year-old from Hunan province participated in the popular TV show The Voice of China in 2012, quickly gaining a fan base across the country. She is a frequent performer at music festivals.

Album for 2014

Beijing-based indie pop-rock group Super VC is back with a new album, For Your Ears Only, and will stage their first show of 2014 in Beijing. They will perform singles from the new album as well as hits from their earlier three albums.

Clayderman returns

French pianist Richard Clayderman, the best-known foreign pop pianist in China, will stage a recital on Saturday. Clayderman's easy-listening popular music or rearrangements of classical music has made him famous all over the world, especially in Asia. He staged his debut concert in China in 1992 and has rearranged and performed many pieces of Chinese music. His hits, including Ballade pour Adeline, exposed many Chinese to the charm of piano music in the 1980s and 1990s.
