Parents of victims confused

China Daily | Updated: 2013-07-11 08:09

After flying for 18 hours, the parents of the two Chinese students who died in Saturday's Asiana Flight 214 crash arrived in San Francisco. However, the coroner suggested they not have a final look at their daughters' remains, media reported.

The parents were told that the two girls were sitting right above the fracture of the crashed Boeing 777's tail. Both girls were thrown a few hundreds meters out of the plane and their bodies were unrecognizable, Zhejiang-based newspaper Today Morning Express reported on Wednesday.

"No matter what is left, we just want to have a final look at our daughters. But why has it become so hard?" asked Wang Wenshan, father of Wang Linjia, the 17-year-old victim.

According to California law, the parents have to sign documents if they insist on seeing their daughters' remains.

"We don't mean to fight for anything other than fair treatment of our daughters. We don't know local laws. But we are afraid that something will happen if we sign those papers," the newspaper quoted Wang as saying.
