1924: Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk) calls for the formation of national bank, Turkiye Is Bankasi (Isbank).
1925: Isbank backs establishment of country's first insurance company, Anadolu Sigorta.
1932: Isbank sets up first overseas branches in Hamburg, Germany, and Alexandria, Egypt, becoming the first Turkish bank to establish a branch in a foreign country.
