Yushu children brought to Beijing to recover

The first batch of 15 children from quake-hit Yushu, accompanied by two teachers and two volunteers, are brought to Beijing by train from Xining for physical and psychological recovery on April 20, 2010, Beijing News reported.

"These orphans escaped from the rubbles in the Gyegu town of Yushu, the most severely hit area in this earthquake. While some of them have been sent to live with relatives, these 15 children are still homeless," said Qiu Lili, from China Charities Aid Foundation for Children (CCAFC).

CCAFC will cover all the expenses for these children when in Beijing. "We will provide them with psychological aids after they have physically recovered and feel stable and comfortable here. Afterwards, some educational courses will be arranged for them, with the period lasting for up to three months," said Wei Jiuming, the chair of CCAFC.

According to sources, members of CCAFC and welfare home will take these children to tour Beijing for a few days once they are feeling better.
