We are so proud of the 40,000 cinema screens that are now in China, but in a way they are just like pans in a kitchen - and filmmakers are chefs, not pan makers. China's film industry boasts high-tech equipment but the content still lags behind. Filmmakers should respect their audiences by creating good work.

It doesn't make sense to criticize the increasing number of academic papers that are being published, especially the influential high-end ones, as they showcase China's improved scientific research ability. It's common knowledge that such papers are major indicators of academic research achievement. Plagiarism is another issue altogether, however, and plagiarized papers should be rooted out.

Hospitals are only part of the reason that the number of disputes between doctors and patients has increased in recent years. A misunderstanding among patients that doctors can cure all diseases is also to blame. In the past, hospitals put patients first, but we should build a new relationship with treatment at its core. Considering China's increasingly strained marine resources, we should learn from other countries' experiences and bring in a fishing quota system as soon as possible. In 2000, the idea of bringing in a quota system was put forward when the Fisheries Law was being revised. However, no detailed rules and regulations have been drafted yet and no supporting measures have been taken.

Visiting bookstores is not just about buying books. From browsing the titles on show to thumbing through the pages, immersing oneself in books is a cultural experience. It's totally different from clicking on a link and reading the text on screen. However, we are gradually losing this experience, which is a shame.
