BEIJING - A total of 100 historical photos were displayed in the National Aquatics Center, known as Water Cube, in Beijing Tuesday, showcasing the efforts of overseas Chinese in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

The exhibition consists of five parts, including one on the group's anti-Japanese activities before Japan's full-scale invasion on July 7, 1937 and their anti-Fascist efforts in the nations or regions where they lived, according to a statement of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

The office, which helped organize the event, said the photos would be displayed in the Water Cube for two months before touring 20 nations and regions.

Qiu Yuanping, head of the office, said at the opening ceremony that the photos recorded the indelible contributions made by the overseas Chinese who supported the anti-Japanese invasion war with almost all that they had.

The event was held to remember and pay tribute to overseas Chinese who dedicated their lives and assets to the liberation of the nation and universal justice.

Japan invaded northeast China in September 1931. However, historians agree that the full-scale invasion began on July 7, 1937, when a bridge that acted as a crucial access point to Beijing was attacked by the Japanese.

China has scheduled a series of events as the 70th anniversary of the victory in the anti-Japanese aggression war and the victory in the world anti-Fascist war approaches, which will culminate in a parade on Sept 3 in Beijing.
