DUBLIN - Visiting Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping reiterated China's support for the euro when he addressed a business forum here in Dublin on Monday.

China is a reliable friend for European countries, including Ireland, in their move to fight debt crisis and seek economic recovery, and China is a trustworthy partner in the international multilateral arena, Xi told hundreds of business leaders from China and Ireland, who gathered here for a forum on the sideline of Xi's visit.

He said China will continue, in a responsible manner and within its own capacity, to support the efforts of the European Union (EU), the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in resolving sovereign debt crisis in Europe.

China will continue to strengthen policy dialogue and coordination with the EU in advancing the bilateral trade, investment and financial cooperation, and China will participate in the action of the international community to support Europe and the eurozone, he said.

He also reiterated that Europe has the "ability, wisdom and solution" to overcome the difficulties.

One day earlier, Xi told Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny that China attaches importance to the status of euro, China is optimistic about the prospect of the euro, and China supports the stability of the euro and the eurozone.

Europe is China's biggest export market and China has been concerned by the development of the debt problem in Europe. The Chinese side supports a stable euro.

After addressing the forum, the Vice-President is set to head for Turkey, the last leg of his three-nation tour.
