BEIJING - The standing committee of China's top legislature will discuss several draft amendments of laws concerning senior citizens' rights and interests, labor contracts and securities investment during a session scheduled from June 26 to 30.

The upcoming session was announced in a press release issued after Wednesday's meeting of the chairman and vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee - presided over by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.

Legislators will review for the first time draft amendments to the Law Guaranteeing the Rights and Interests of Senior Citizens, draft amendments to the Labor Contract Law and draft amendments to the Law on Securities Investment Funds.

Other documents to be deliberated at the meeting include draft amendments to methods used by the People's Liberation Army to elect deputies to legislatures above the county level and the country's top legislature, as well as draft amendments to the methods used for selecting the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region and forming its legislative council.

During the forthcoming session, legislators will review the State Council's reports on the central government's final accounts for 2011, as well as examine and approve the final accounts for 2011. They will also review a report on the implementation of the central budget for 2011 and an auditing work report on other fiscal revenue and expenditures for 2011.

The legislators are also expected to deliberate the State Council's reports on ensuring safe drinking water and the enforcement of the Anti-Drug Law.

They will review a report on the enforcement of the Law on the Protection of Cultural Relics presented by inspection teams of the NPC Standing Committee, as well as a written report outlining Wu Bangguo's visits to the Netherlands, Croatia, Luxembourg and Spain.

Legislators will also discuss several appointments and removals.
