An exhibition of rare, ancient relics and contemporary art works will be held in the Chang'an Tower in Xi'an, capital of China's Northwest Shaanxi province, from April 28 as a celebration of the opening of the Xi'an Expo Park.

A total of 242 exhibits, including eave tiles made in the Qin (211?- 206 BC) and the Western Han (206 BC?- 24 AD) Dynasties and tri-colored pottery made in the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907), will be on display, according to Wang Tianbing, general manager of Xi'an Expo Park Cultural and Creative Industry Investment Co Ltd.

Most of the exhibits were obtained from private collectors or from the original artists.

"The cultural value and artistic level of the exhibits are very high. Many of them are considered national treasures, and many of them are on public display for the first time," Wang said.

The 13-story Chang'an Tower was one of four landmarks of the 2011 Xi'an World Horticultural Exposition. The site of the exposition was subsequently rebuilt to be an Expo Park and will be open to the public free of charge on April 28. The exhibition will last from April 28 till Dec 31.
