PYONGYANG - Kim Jong-il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Monday said the DPRK hopes the Six-Party Talks about the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula should be restarted as soon as possible.

All the six parties should fully implement the September 19 joint statement, signed by them in 2005 in Beijing, on the principle of simultaneous action, Kim, who is general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, said during a meeting with visiting Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang.

Li, for his part, said China is willing to continue to play a constructive role in helping improve the ties between the DPRK and South Korea, and maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula.

He arrived here on Sunday for an official goodwill visit to the DPRK.
