CPC discipline watchdog vows crackdown on graft

BEIJING - The discipline watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has ordered strict discipline in the selection and appointment of new local Party committee leaders.

A communique released Tuesday at the end of a three-day plenary session of the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said misconduct in the selection and appointment of new local Party committee leaders, such as the buying and selling of posts, will be resolutely punished.

In 2011, a new-round of leader selection and appointment for different-level local Party committees will occur.

The sixth plenary session of the 17th CCDI ended Tuesday. It outlined the 2011 anti-corruption and Party building work.

The session noted that the whole Party must realize that the fight against corruption is a "long-haul, complicated and arduous" task.

More forceful measures must be taken to push forward anti-corruption work, so as to guarantee the implementation of the 12th Five-Year Plan and the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with new anti-corruption achievements, said the communique.
