Power consumption realizes first positive growth

China's total power consumption in the January-August period reached 2.34 trillion kWh, up 0.36 percent year-on-year, the first positive growth this year, the energy bureau under the National Development and Reform Commission announced Monday.

According to statistics, China's August power consumption amounted to 346.22 billion kWh, up 8.22 percent compared with the same period last year, or 1.23 percent from July. Monthly power consumption has kept a positive growth since April this year.

Power consumed in the first, second and third industries was 64.14 billion kWh, 1.72 trillion kWh and 255.52 billion kWh respectively, up 6.29 percent, down 2.84 percent and up 10.70 percent respectively, the bureau said.
