BEIJING - China's Ministry of Health reported two more confirmed A(H1N1) flu cases Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections to 41 on the Chinese mainland.

The new cases, from the central provinces of Hubei and Henan, were confirmed Tuesday morning through clinical diagnosis, epidemiological investigation and lab tests, the ministry said.

Health departments in the two provinces were tracing those in close contact with the patients and had put those who had been found in quarantine. None of them had shown flu symptoms, the ministry said.

A 4-year-old girl, who arrived in Beijing on May 28 by flight AC031 from Canada with some family members, became Beijing's 11th confirmed patient, said the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau

The girl, surnamed Zou, felt sick on Friday and was quarantined Sunday. She was hospitalized Monday.

The 10th confirmed case was a 13-year-old girl, who arrived here along with her parents, brother and sister by flight AC029 from Canada on May 29.

The girl, surnamed Fang, began to show symptoms on Sunday and was quarantined. She was hospitalized Monday.

The bureau said the ninth case was a 26-year-old Chinese man surnamed Liu. He arrived in Beijing by flight QR898 from Yemen on May 26 and felt sick on Friday.

All the people who had closed contact with the three patients were placed under medical observation.

The Health Administration of Guangdong Province reported one more confirmed A/H1N1 case Monday evening, the 12th of its kind in the coastal region.

The 20-year-old Chinese-American arrived in Guangzhou, the regional capital, on May 25 by flight CA982 and went to Maoming City by train.

He was tested A/H1N1 positive Monday and is in stable condition.

Health authorities in east China's Fujian Province reported two more confirmed cases, involving two Chinese children of American nationality.

One patient is a 6-year-old boy and the other is a 9-year-old girl. Both left New York with family members to Hong Kong on May 26 and took the Thailand flight KA660 from Hong Kong to Fuzhou, capital of Fujian on May 28, said the department.

They both felt sick and went to hospital on Sunday where they tested positive to A/H1N1 flu virus on Sunday, according to Fujian Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

They are also in stable condition, the department said.

Twelve people had had close contact to the two children and all had been quarantined. People in Fujian who had taken the same flight have been visited by doctors and are quarantined at home, the department said.

The department also said on Monday a man who was confirmed to have contacted A/H1N1 flu virus four days ago recovered and was discharged from a local hospital.

Xie Zhendong, 25, has had normal temperature for 106 hours. Other flu symptoms, such as having a running nose and coughing, have abated, qualifying Xie's clean bill of health in accordance with standards drafted by the Chinese Ministry of Health for discharging A/H1N1 flu patients from hospitals, said the department.

According to the World Health Organization, 53 countries had officially reported 15,510 cases of A/H1N1 infection, including 99 deaths, as of Friday.
