Beijing Lawyers' Association gets new chairman

Beijng -- Beijing Lawyers' Association, a voluntary professional organization, has elected Zhang Xuebing as its new chairman, according to a news report on the association's website.

The newly elected chairman is a founder of Zhong Lun Law Firm, one of the largest Chinese law firms with over 500 professionals and a strong presence across the country, as well as an outpost in Tokyo. The firm is noted for its strength to advise on corporate/M&A, capital markets, real estate and construction, banking and finance, FDI and international trade.

There are currently 18,635 lawyers practicing in Beijing by the end of 2008, according to the association. That is approximately one lawyer for every 1,000 people in the capital city.
