BEIJING -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping arrived in Mexico City on Monday afternoon (local time) for an official visit to Mexico. The following are some facts and figures about Xi's visit.

-- China and Mexico established diplomatic relations on February 14, 1972. Since then, Sino-Mexican relations have been developing smoothly.

-- Two-way trade between China and Mexico has been expanding in recent years. In the first 10 months of 2008, bilateral trade reached US$14.96 billion, up 22.3 percent from a year earlier.

-- Mexico is the first leg of Xi's current tour of five Latin American nations and Malta. The other four Latin American nations are Jamaica, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil.

-- Bilateral trade between China and Latin America reached US$102.57 billion in 2007, surpassing the US$100-billion goal set by Chinese President Hu Jintao during his trip to the region in 2004, according to the figures of the Chinese Customs.
