Premier Wen meets Polish, Singaporean vice PMs

BEIJING -- Premier Wen Jiabao met here on Friday with Polish Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak, who came here to attend the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games.

Wen said the Paralympics was a stage for the disabled and would help raise international awareness of such people, vowing that China would do its utmost to make the Paralympics as exciting as the Olympics.

Wen highlighted the recent growth of bilateral relations at various levels, saying that China appreciated Poland's long-term adherence to the one-China policy.

China would seize the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the China-Poland diplomatic relationship and work with the Polish side to take bilateral relations to a higher level, Wen told Pawlak.

Pawlak expressed his congratulations on the success of the Beijing Olympics, noting that the upcoming Paralympics would have a profound impact on improving conditions for the disabled.

Pawlak said the Polish government valued its ties with China and the expansion of bilateral economic cooperation was of great significance to Poland.

Poland was willing to boost bilateral cooperation in such fields as mutual investment, infrastructure, energy, the environment and tourism, Pawlak said.

On the same day, Wen also met with Singaporean Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Wong Kan Seng, who was here for a bilateral meeting on China-Singapore cooperation.
