March 17, 2009: "Views on Deepening the Reform of the Medical and Health System"

On March 17, 2009 the CPC Central Committee and State Council issued "Views on Deepening the Reform of the Medical and Health System" which proposed the long-term objectives of five key reform measures including alleviating the problem of inadequate and overly expensive medical services and establishing a basic medical and health system covering urban and rural areas.
