The twin tower of China World Trade Center Phase III, a 295-meter-high building, was topped out on Wednesday.

The new building, together with the finished Building A of Phase III, a 330-meter high skyscraper, marks the capital's highest skyscraper in the central business district.

Construction on Building B of Phase III began in May 2012 and is scheduled to finish on October 19, 2016. Occupying 19,456 square meters of land and with a gross floor area of 232,903 square meters, the new building consists of offices, hotels and shopping malls.

China World Trade Center, to some extent, is an epitome of modern Chinese architecture. Since its first building began in 1986, the height of China World's buildings has been raised nearly 200 meters: from 155 to 330 meters.

China World Trade Center Co Ltd will continue to focus on the high-end property and hotel market, according to the company's vice chairman Zhang Yanfei.
