Guangdong Provincial Government has approved a proposal to build Jieyang into a metal ecological city, Nanfang Daily reported on June 20, 2013.

The creativities in the proposal, which can be seen in the industrial park's management structure, the international cooperation between China and Germany, and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, have been highly recognized by the government, said the newspaper.

The approval positioned Jieyang metal ecological city as an industrial cluster district, and clearly stated that environmental protection should be given priority in the process of planning and construction.

Jieyang ecological city has raised 10 billion yuan of industrial funding.
