BEIJING -- Chinese shares rose in the morning session on Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.53 percent, or 14.52 points, to 2,756.26 at midday.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 43.58 points, or 0.38 percent, to 11,659.00.
