China Mobile Q1 net profit up 5.2% at $3.7b

China Mobile posted a 5.2 percent rise in first-quarter profit as the firm maintained its leading position in China's mobile industry, but it said subscriber growth showed signs of slowing down.

Net profit attributable to equity holders from January to March this year amounted to 25.2 billion yuan ($3.69 billion), from 23.9 billion yuan in the same period a year ago.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) margins dipped slightly to 52.7 percent, from 53.5 percent a year ago. Revenue for the period totaled 101.3 billion yuan, up 9.2 percent from the same period a year ago.
