BOC reports strong SME loan growth

Bank of China (BOC) extended 100.45 billion yuan in new loans to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the first two months of this year, the lender said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, BOC's outstanding loans for SMEs reached 860 billion yuan by the end of February.

The central government has asked financial institutions to increase their lending to SMEs that are hard-hit by the global economic downturn.
