UN tells US assessed dues are not up for negotiation

Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday said that assessed contributions are treaty obligations binding on all member states and cannot be subject to any conditions or negotiation. The remarks came in response to a question from China Daily at a press briefing at UN Headquarters in New York, regarding US demands to link its dues payment to UN reforms, including moves to limit China's contributions to certain UN-managed funds.
