Spring scenery and the fragrance of tea will set the tone for Beijing's May Day holiday. The 25th Badachu China Garden Tea Culture Week, held together with the Zherong High-Mountain White Tea (Jasmine Tea) Culture Week, will take place at Badachu Park from April 30 to May 5.

Since 2002, Badachu Park in Beijing has hosted more than 20 consecutive editions of its tea culture festival. The festival has grown into a signature seasonal event, blending traditional tea culture with the capital's spring landscape.

Zherong county in northeastern Fujian province sits within one of China's prime tea-growing regions. At an average elevation of 660 meters, it benefits from ample rainfall, dense forest cover and wide day-night temperature shifts — conditions that help produce teas with depth and clarity of flavor.

Its mineral-rich soil, high in zinc and selenium, contributes to the high quality of Zherong tea, supporting a diverse range of tea varieties and securing its role as a key production base.

In recent years, Zherong has attracted a number of well-known domestic tea beverage brands, which have established operations locally or integrated Zherong tea into their supply chains.

By 2025, the output value of the county's jasmine tea industry had exceeded 500 million yuan ($73 million), ranking first among counties in Fujian province in both production scale and quality. It has been recognized as Fujian's leading jasmine tea-producing county.

Zherong High-Mountain White Tea, an emerging product in recent years, is distinguished by its silvery buds, abundant down, delicate aroma and sweet, refreshing taste. It has gained strong recognition within the industry, been named an advanced unit in Fujian's tea industry standardization efforts, and was included in the Top 50 China Tea Brands list in 2025.

During the festival, visitors can explore tastings, cultural showcases and interactive experiences designed to deepen engagement with tea while boosting holiday tourism.
