A new round of heavy rainfall is expected to hit parts of southern China over the next three days, according to forecasts from the National Meteorological Center.

Starting Sunday, the heavy rain will move from the Sichuan Basin and Guizhou eastward, affecting more than 10 provinces and regions, including Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Zhejiang, and Guangdong.

These areas are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain. The heaviest rainfall is expected between Monday and Tuesday, according to the center.

On Sunday, the northeastern Sichuan Basin, central and southern Chongqing, northern Guizhou, and northeastern Yunnan may experience heavy rain, with precipitation ranging from 50 to 70 millimeters.

The public is advised to take precautions against secondary disasters caused by heavy and persistent rain, plan travel carefully, and steer clear of waterlogged roads.

It is important to stay updated with the latest weather warnings and be aware of the dangers posed by severe convective weather, such as strong winds and hail.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a farmland waterlogging disaster risk warning.

From Sunday to Wednesday, the risk of farmland waterlogging is high in the Sichuan Basin, southeastern Hubei, and most of Hunan and Jiangxi.

Local authorities of areas expecting heavy rainfall should manage water storage in reservoirs and ponds and enhance drainage efforts in fields to prevent waterlogging.
